Foster 100\/6 inhaler<\/strong> is a prescription pressurised metered-dose inhaler for adults. Each metered actuation contains 100 micrograms of beclometasone dipropionate, an inhaled corticosteroid, and 6 micrograms of formoterol fumarate dihydrate, a long-acting bronchodilator. The Turkish pack contains 120 actuations. Foster may be prescribed for regular asthma treatment when a combined inhaled corticosteroid and long-acting beta2-agonist is appropriate, and for selected adults with severe symptomatic COPD and repeated exacerbations. How the two medicines work<\/h2>\n

Beclometasone reduces inflammation inside the airways when it is used regularly. Formoterol relaxes airway muscles and begins bronchodilation rapidly, helping breathing feel easier. Combining the two medicines in one device helps deliver the anti-inflammatory controller and long-acting bronchodilator together. A clinician selects the lowest effective strength and plan needed to maintain control.<\/p>\n

The delivered amount leaving the actuator is slightly lower than the metered amount printed on the pack. This is expected for a pressurised inhaler and does not mean that the pack is under-strength. Do not compare puff counts or strengths directly with a different inhaler without professional advice.<\/p>\n

Who may be prescribed Foster 100\/6 inhaler?<\/h2>\n

Adults with asthma<\/h3>\n

The Foster 100\/6 inhaler<\/strong> can be prescribed when asthma is not adequately controlled by an inhaled corticosteroid plus an as-needed short-acting bronchodilator, or when asthma is already controlled with separate corticosteroid and long-acting bronchodilator inhalers. It may be used as fixed maintenance treatment with a separate reliever, or as maintenance-and-reliever therapy when the prescriber explicitly chooses that plan.<\/p>\n

Adults with COPD<\/h3>\n

It may also be prescribed for symptomatic adults with severe COPD who have a history of repeated exacerbations despite regular long-acting bronchodilator therapy. The clinician should reassess symptoms, exacerbations and inhaler technique regularly. This medicine is not approved for children or adolescents under 18.<\/p>\n

Prescribed plans and dosing limits<\/h2>\n

There are different approved treatment plans, so the label on your prescription is decisive. In an asthma maintenance plan with a separate reliever, the usual adult range in the official information is one or two puffs twice daily, with a maximum of four puffs daily. In a specifically prescribed maintenance-and-reliever plan, one puff is generally taken twice daily and extra puffs may be used for symptoms within the clinician\u2019s written maximum; the current product information sets a total maximum of eight puffs per day. For COPD, the official adult dose is two puffs twice daily.<\/p>\n

  2. Stand or sit upright.<\/strong> Remove the mouthpiece cap and check that the mouthpiece is clean and unobstructed.<\/li>\n
  3. Breathe out gently.<\/strong> Exhale as far as comfortable, away from the inhaler; never breathe into the device.<\/li>\n
  4. Seal your lips.<\/strong> Hold the inhaler upright with the mouthpiece in your mouth and form a comfortable seal.<\/li>\n
  5. Coordinate the puff.<\/strong> Start breathing in slowly and deeply through the mouth, then press the canister once while continuing to inhale.<\/li>\n
  6. Hold your breath.<\/strong> Remove the inhaler and hold your breath for as long as comfortable, then exhale slowly.<\/li>\n
  7. Wait for a second puff.<\/strong> If a second puff was prescribed, wait about 30 seconds, repeat the steps and replace the cap.<\/li>\n
  8. Rinse after every dose.<\/strong> Rinse the mouth, gargle with water or brush the teeth, then spit out the water. This helps reduce oral thrush and hoarseness.<\/li>\n
  9. Check the counter.<\/strong> Arrange a replacement before it reaches zero. The canister may not feel empty even when the labelled doses are finished.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    If coordinating the press with slow inhalation is difficult, ask a doctor, pharmacist or respiratory nurse to observe your technique.     Cleaning and care<\/h2>\n

    Clean the outside and inside of the mouthpiece regularly with a clean, dry cloth. Do not remove the metal canister from the actuator and do not wash the actuator or canister with water. Keep the cap fitted between uses and make sure dust or small objects cannot enter the mouthpiece.<\/p>\n

    Warnings and urgent help<\/h2>\n

    Sudden wheezing, chest tightness or breathlessness immediately after a puff may be paradoxical bronchospasm. Stop using the inhaler, follow the emergency\/reliever instructions already given by the clinician and obtain urgent medical advice. Seek emergency help for severe breathing difficulty, swelling of the face or throat, or collapse.<\/p>\n

    Tell the prescriber about heart disease, irregular heartbeat or prolonged QT interval, overactive thyroid, diabetes, low potassium, pheochromocytoma, tuberculosis or other chest infection. Also disclose beta-blockers, other bronchodilators, diuretics, steroids and strong CYP3A inhibitors. Surgery or anaesthesia may require special planning.<\/p>\n

    Possible effects include oral candidiasis, hoarseness, throat irritation and headache. Tremor, palpitations, fast heartbeat or muscle cramps can occur because of formoterol.
